Objectives: We aimed to present the examination of the results of patients who underwent carotid endarterctomy due to carotid artery stenosis and to compare our experience with the literature. Methods: Thirty five patients who underwent carotid endarterctomy at Bozok University hospital between January 2013 and March 2020 were included in the study. Etiology, concomitant diseases, anesthesia type, surgery and postoperative complications were evaluated retrospectively. Results: The mean age of the patients was 68±4.2. Of the patients, 27 were male and eight were female respectively. Right carotid endarterectomy was performed in 19 (54.28%) patients and left carotid endarterectomy in 16 (45.71%) patients. Thirty patients underwent surgery with general anesthesia and five patients underwent regional anesthesia. No mortality was observed. The records of complications were as follows; transient ischemic attacks in four patients (11.42%), difficulty in swallowing in two patients (5.71%), wound infection that improved with medical treatment in one patient (2.85%) and hematoma in three patients (8.57%) respectively in postoperative early period. Conclusion: Carotid endarterctomy is a surgery that can be performed with low mortality and morbidity when following the principles coming from the past and present.
